Menu effects crash session

With "Enable effects" combined with "Enable subwindow
effects" in Control Panel -> Colors and Fonts -> Menus,
the session crashes when scrolling in the Start-menu.
When it crashes, the screen blinks and I am sent back
to the gdm-login.
Running KANOTIX 2004-09 -> Debian Testing.

I have analyzed this issue in debth. Apparently there is an "event  
storm" with menus that are too large, in particular the Quick  
Browser. Some workarounds:  
- Don't use menu effects :)  
- Disable quick browser. To do this, open  
~/.ede/ede_mainmenu.xml and look for part that says:  
  <Item Type="FileBrowser" Dir="/">  
        <Name>Quick Browser</Name>  
  </Item>  
Delete it.  
- We will re-enable the auto-restart on crash feature in eworkpanel  
in v1.0.4. This means that your screen will still flicker but at least the  
X won't restart and you won't loose any work.  
 
The eventual fix for this crash will be in EDE 2.0 when we dump efltk 
and switch to fltk 2.

Seems to be solved with ede 1.0.4
Have not had any crashes so far after upgrade to the new
version.
