I installed one of vedrans deb, but wdm won't offer it as a startup option even after a reboot.  Is there some setting I need to change.

I am using ubuntu dapper drake.

Please try with Ubuntu packages from: ftp://ftp.akl.lt/Linux/Baltix/Baltix-Ubuntu-packages/equinox-desktop-environment/ and let me know if you still have problems. I will try to find an Ubuntu machine and install wdm so I can try.
